Convert VRO to WMV for Windows Media Player and Media Center

Published on by transcode-video

If you have the mini-DVD camcorders like Panasonic VDR-D220, VDR D300, Sony Handycam DCR-DVD 403R, DCR-DVD101, Samsung DVDR128 or DVD Recorders like Panasonic DMR-E50 and DMR-E80H, you may notice that the recorded mini-DVD disc is stored in VR mode, which generates VR_MOVIE.VRO, VR_MANGR.IFO and VR_MANGR.BUP on disc.

If you do not have other media player on Windows computer, you may notice that Windows Media Player does not play the DVD disc with VRO file, not to say Windows Media Center. One solution is to copy the VR_MOVIE.VRO file from disc to your computer hard drive, and then rename the files by changing the extension name from VRO to MPG. It shall work for Windows Media Player, but not Windows Media Center. After renaming, the video playback will be slightly jerky, but it is the easy way.
